    1. Sigcomm 2011

    Having received hotel information from ACM, the EC agreed to proceed
    with our choice for Sigcomm 2011 host city. Jau will contact the
    selected general chair and Bruce will contact the lead of the
    unselected proposal. Announcement of the host city can be made after
    these individuals have been contacted.

    1. Sigcomm 2011

    The EC continued review of two strong proposals for Sigcomm 2011 in North America. ACM has been asked to gather hotel information for the candidate cities in case that is a significant factor. Once that information is in hand (due in December) we should be able to make a final decision.

    1. SIG Governing Board Meeting & SIG leader orientation

    Bruce and Ramesh attended the new SIG leader orientation in New York
    and then attended the SIG Governing Board meeting the next day, along
    with Henning. A few observations from the 2 days:

  • Many SIGs experience common issues, and there is a desire to share
    experience and best practices among the SIG leaders. ACM undertook to
    set up a wiki for this purpose.
  • A particularly common pain point is organizing conferences outside

    SIGCOMM EC Conference Call 9/8/09

    1. SIGCOMM 2009 follow-up

    Jau gave a short report on SIGCOMM 2009. Overall, things went quite
    smoothly. Two areas for improvement: Internet access, and
    billing/accounting support. Bruce is investigating possible Cisco help
    with the Internet issue for next year. Dolors has provided information
    that should be helpful to future local arrangements chairs regarding
    billing and accounting.

    1. Community feedback session

    Considerable time was spent reviewing and fine-tuning the presentation
    for the community feedback session. Emphasis on ways that members of
    the community can get more involved in SIGCOMM was added. (See
    presentation slides and notes posted on our website for more details.)
